Potosí

Potosí apparently was an important place in the Spanish Empire due to its mines, contributing significantly to the economy. There are mines to visit here, apparently even quite famous and well-worth-the-time mines but after the Uyuni adventure I just could not be bothered. I wanted to leave this country as soon as possible, looked around in the town for a couple of hours (although quite nice colonial buildings and architecture here too!) and then jumped onto a bus south to the border.

The statue in the middle of the park outside the cathedral bears some resemblance to the Statue of Liberty in new York. Just a tiny bit smaller.

Oh, and I almost forgot another little detail; it claims to be the highest city in the world. Not bad, huh? Kinda glad I passed through here after all. 4060 metres. Bring in the oxygen.
